The Harris County Republican Party chairman is calling for a GOP misdemeanor court judge to resign because, using the courthouse computer system, he circulated e-mail in that ridiculed blacks, Hispanics, women and gays and contained a racial slur. Rosenthal resigned a few months later after the controversy intensified. Standley, re-elected in to a four-year term, said his only response to criticism now is that his actions were cleared by the State Commission on Judicial Conduct , which deliberates in private. The commission did look into a complaint about the e-mails and took no official action, according to several officials.

The Houston GLBT Community Center was a community center for lesbian , gay , bisexual , and transgender people and their allies in the Houston metropolitan area and southeast Texas. The Center was a nonprofit all-volunteer nonprofit organization whose mission was "to empower, educate, and nurture individuals of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities, generating a sense of community by providing for their social, emotional, and physical well being. Each year in June, the Center awarded these scholarships through the fund established in honor of John Lawrence and the late Tyrone Garner, who were the co-petitioners in the landmark Lawrence v. Texas case. The Supreme Court decision in that case overturned sodomy laws in the United States. The initial press conference after the ruling with over 40 national and international media representatives present was held at the Center and the rally at City Hall was organized by the Center. The Center hosted a weekly coming-out group for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and questioning individuals, a monthly First Saturday Queer Bingo and art shows at the Center and throughout Houston, [ citation needed ] and facilitated the quarterly Community Leaders Networking Group as well as the Houston GLBT Business Council.
Chris Brown waited patiently, biding his time until he could deliver punishing hits and celebrate by flexing his muscles. Brown is optimistic it will all pay dividends after running the yard dash in 4. That performance checked additional boxes for a productive defensive starter who opted out of the Alamo Bowl to prepare full-time for the draft. Brown recorded 47 tackles, two for loss, one interception, seven pass breakups, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery as a fifth-year senior. Projected as a late-round draft pick or a priority free agent, Brown is unconcerned about where or when he winds up in the NFL.
